Fiber Rush is a material manufactured as a substitute for old-fashioned Natural Rush, which is produced by drying and twisting the leaves of Bullrush, or Cat-tail plants. It was invented to meed the need for Rush seats in mass-produced furniture at the dawn of the 1900's. Fiber Rush is made of a very tough, twisted paper that is more suitable for mass production due to its more consistent size and color. When properly installed and cared for it is said to be among the most durable of seating materials. The average chair seat will require approximately two pounds of Fiber Rush. Since both the Natural Kraft and Golden Brown Fiber Rush can vary widely in color from batch to batch, it is recommended that enough be ordered at one time when there are several chairs in a set to be re-woven.
